Research interests
I am currently a Univ. assistant in the group of Prof. Bodo Ziegler, being also:

  • a member of the COSMOS team,
  • a core member of the zCOSMOS team,
  • and a member of the VLT-CLASH team.

I am centrally involved in the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS), the 1.64 deg2 ACS survey with ancillary data from Spitzer, XMM-Newton, Chandra, VLA, and photometry in 30-bands. I have been playing a major role in the zCOSMOS collaboration, the ESO-VLT spectroscopic follow-up of COSMOS for ~30000 galaxies at z < 3.5. Specifically, as the zCOSMOS data manager, I have been responsible for the data handling of the 600 hours of zCOSMOS raw VIMOS data from ESO and preparing them for processing. I have been awarded several VLT and Subaru scientific programs for near-infrared spectroscopy of zCOSMOS galaxies at 0.5<z<2.5 over the last few years, with the aim to obtain reliable metallicities and star formation rates, to study the evolution of the mass-metallicity relation and fundamental metallicity relation up to higher redshifts.

VLT-CLASH is an ongoing spectroscopic follow-up using VLT-VIMOS of a subset of 14 clusters from the “Cluster Lensing And Supernova survey with Hubble” (CLASH, Postman et al. 2012). The VLT-VIMOS spectroscopy aims at obtaining redshift measurements for 400-600 cluster members in each cluster field. In particular, five emission lines ([OII]3727, Hbeta, [OIII]5007, Halpha and [NII6584]) are observed for galaxies in three clusters at z~0.45: RXJ1347, MACSJ0329, and MACSJ1206. I am using the five emission line fluxes to get reliable metallicities for cluster members and field galaxies, to study the effect of environment on the mass-metallicity relation of galaxies at z~0.45.
